With a higher budget than the first film, the duo of Turquoise Moon were able to use a full studio, instead of the basement where the score for Midnight Demon was composed. For some of this new music they had access to piano and session drummer Greg Phillips, with whom they had originally worked on their as-yet-unreleased 1985 album.

Using a new E-mu SP-12 sampler, alongside a Juno 106, a Prophet 5, a Roland SH 101 and a glitchy Yamaha DX-7, as well as their tried and custom tested rigs,Turquoise Moon expanded their textures and sounds to a darker, heavier tone that fitted the movie's melancholy feel.

The music for Midnight Demon 2 was written in LA through the final months of 1986. After this the duo called it quits and left the city for reasons that remain unclear.
