Eric Bazilian wrote “Heaven Ain’t Gonna Save Us” the day after the Presidential Election in 2016, as a reflection on the toxic ideological polarization of not only the USA, but the entire world. Now, on the cusp of another election, where the stakes are even higher in the midst of a Global Pandemic, he has decided to put on his Topical Songwriter shoes and release the track. As he says in the song, “there ain’t no right or wrong wing on a plane that’s gotta fly through a sky that’s got room for all of us”. As serious as the subject matter is, it’s a rollicking rave-up, filled with crunchy guitars, bashed-out drums, thrashed-out acoustic instruments, and passionate vocals.
