Auntie Polli, Johns mother, met us at doorstep:
- Guys, weve got these baskets taken to Central Square. I tried to make some special cuisine this time!
- Of, course, Auntie! May I have a look?
- You arent a nosy Parker, are you, Dreamse? My dear boy! - laughed Aunty Polli.
I half-opened the basket cover and saw, sweet colorful buns, I could swallow my tongue. John and I took a basket each and carried them to the square.
- And remember not to eat all out before the Feast! - Auntie was calling at us as we set off.
That is the great day for sure! Towns people have brought out the prettiest and the tastiest things to share with and to celebrate the Day of Colors!
Here is Uncle Patrick, placing around his colorful caps. Here are Lilys small malachite boxes ready for candies. And Tom has made and hung a real swing on a tree. Everyone is busy, everyone cares with magic for each other.
You are being curious about the Feast itself, arent you? Well, usually, on occasion we pay visits from one to another, from shop to shop, embrace and make presents, scattering around quicksand paints. And we dance, of course.
And what a mess and noise is it?
Circus comes to town!! At long last!!
There were big carriages stuffed to the roof with various things, coming through Grand Town Gates. Suitcases and boxes were all covered with stickers from oversea never seen here before.
The circus had an odor of different world. Kids were running around, looking enchanted, with hope to see the artists. But nobody was visible. Only one huge smiling face with its tiny thin mustache was smiling and looking cute among the belongings. All towns people were incredibly anticipated. The Circus caravan stopped at Central Square.
Suddenly out of nowhere there came out tiny little men, looking very much fingers of someones hand, without hand itself. Very smartly they started unloading the carriages.
- This circus makes me feel some strange, I thought aloud.
- But, I dont! It looks so interesting
- Responded John, eating up his bun colored in wild watermelon red - I most like it scary!!
- Well, we will see.
The was going its usual way. Town citizens were ironing their best colorful dresses. Artists were hiding away somewhere in make-up rooms making up their guitars get tuned, clarinets shine, and their costumes get neat. A rather pretty mess was going: tents were rising as if by themselves. Within an instance a big Head was potted on top of them.I was wandering and looking around at these funny "Fingertips", so hardworking, showing no emotions at all. They were doing their job fast and well.
Lily was standing at the Head. She was thoughtfully staring at it.
- Boo!! - I sprang out of Lilys back, willing to scare her.
- Dreamse, that was creepy really! Stop doing like this.
- Are you really scared? - I showed a satisfied grin.
- Yeah, this Circus and all the stuff is so mysterious, makes me feel terrified, a little bit.
- Come, come, this is just vagarious artists, you know. I wonder when their first show is.
At that moment, the Head started declaiming, as if it was answering my question.
- Dear Paintsborough citizens! We know that today you are having a big fest - Colors Feast! This is why we came to town, to please you with extraordinary performance! On the list: singing and dancing acrobat-anubises, witty thumbs, Augustus with his Lyric poetry, tamed wild birds and more to come!
The earth was trembling from the volume of the such loud voice. But the townsmen started talking with interest, sharing opinion with each other.
- I want to make a present for you. So today we admit every one of you absolutely for free.
Spectators started applauding with joy and crowding.
